Alex Campbell, Co-Founder and CEO
Alex has dedicated the past decade to pioneering the mobile marketing discipline and educating clients on its value as a viable marketing solution. A leader and visionary, Alex’s expertise in strategic business planning, budget management and financial analysis have led to Vibes’ double digit growth, every year since 2004. Known throughout the industry for his candor regarding the state of mobile technology, Alex is a sought after speaker within the technology and financing circuits.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has won a number of awards throughout his career including Red Herring’s Top 25 Tech Rebels and Crain’s Business Chicago Top 40 Professionals under 40. Alex is a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization of Chicago.
Jack Philbin, Co-Founder and President
Jack spearheads the company’s overall strategic direction and drives Vibes’ position as one of the premier thought leaders in the mobile marketing and wireless industry. Since founding Vibes in 1998, Jack has played an instrumental role in building text-messaging as a marketing tool and is a sought after speaker at industry events such as the CTIA, MMA and iHollywood Forums. An entrepreneur and builder, Jack has specific expertise in business development, strategic client management and consumer marketing.
Jack is a graduate of Boston College and received his MBA at Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg School of Management. He currently sits on the CTIA Wireless Internet Caucus and, in 2005, received the MMA award for outstanding individual achievement.
Charley Cassell, CFO
As CFO, Charley’s responsibilities include strategic planning, budgeting, financial operations and capital activities. Charley came to Vibes in June, 2008 with more than 15 years of experience managing strategic planning, revenue, budget management, direct sales, and financial analysis. Prior to Vibes, Charley held several senior positions at leading internet companies including Yahoo!, eGroups and Learning Insights. Most recently, Charley worked as the Director of Operations at Google – a position he arrived at through the acquisition of Feedburner, a Chicago-based internet company, where he was CFO.
Charley holds an MBA from the University of Michigan School of Business Administration and a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
David Gale, VP, Business Development
David oversees all of Vibes’ business development practices including sales, marketing and innovation. Since arriving at Vibes in 2005, David has built strategic partnerships with several blue chip clients and is highly regarded for his idea generation and ability to identify opportunities where mobile can bolster existing marketing strategies.
Prior to entering the mobile space, David spent more than 10 years consulting for firms that focused on Supply Chain/Demand Chain Management, e-commerce, and knowledge management space. Most recently, David built his own consulting company that focused on supply chain management with sales and marketing consulting and outsourcing. He sold his company so that he could move his family to Chicago to be closer to relatives. David is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Chris Cooper, VP, Director of Technology
Chris heads up Vibes’ technology department where he is accountable for the overall technology vision, aligning all IT investments with strategic business objectives and ensuring that the company’s systems and processes are functioning properly. An enterprise architect with keen management sensibilities, Chris has experience working in multiple industry sectors and his IT expertise extends across a variety of different development tools, platforms and methodologies.
Prior to Vibes, Chris spent nearly 17 years honing his skills in various IT positions at companies like UBS O’Connor, Diamond Technology Partners, IBM and Discover Card. Most recently, he spent four years as a senior consultant with Orbitz, where he focused on Java J2EE development. Chris graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in mathematics and computer science.
Doug Rothrock, VP, Client Services
Doug has been a key leader at Vibes helping build marketing and sales since he joined the company in 2002. He now oversees the Client Services department for Vibes’ where he is primarily responsible for strategic mobile initiatives that drive business growth and revenue for wireless carriers. An award winning consumer marketer with more than 20 years of experience, Vibes looks to Doug for his creative leadership, CRM and promotional expertise within the mobile space.
Prior to Vibes, Doug spent the majority of his career honing his skills in the mobile telecom and advertising industries. As one of the original members of Aerial Communications, a startup wireless carrier, Doug built and led the company’s marketing department until their merger with VoiceStream. After the merger, Doug was hired as Head of Global Marketing Communications to launch the Genie mobile Internet portal brand for British Telecom in both Europe and Asia. Doug has held a number of senior management positions at companies like Ameritech Cellular and agencies J. Walter Thompson and DDB. He is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Cheryl Sanders, VP, Client Services
Cheryl has more than 15 years of experience in the traditional agency world and brings a considerable amount of business acumen, insight and leadership to Vibes’ client services group. A key strategic decision maker, Cheryl’s has specific expertise in mobile program management, strategic planning, measurement, capturing ROI and teaching clients how to effectively integrate mobile into their overall media mix.
After earning her BBA from the University of North Texas, Cheryl took a position working at DDB Dallas in the Telecom and Utilities categories. From there, she moved to BBDO Chicago where she helped several clients – including the State of Illinois, Wrigley and LaSalle Bank – manage their multi-million dollar media spend and launch new positioning, product and sponsorship strategies. Towards the end of her 6 year career at BBDO, Cheryl assisted ABN AMRO Mortgage Group in developing the test launch of Mortgage.com and the repositioning of their B2B wholesale lending group.
