Power 106 - Integration of a Mobile Marketing Platform
Overview
Power 106 came to Vibes looking to find an efficient solution to running regular contests, sweepstakes and giveaways while optimizing listener participation and creating the opportunity for the station to generate incremental advertising revenue.
Challenge
As the number one, local Hip Hop radio station – with more than 55% of Los Angeles’ Hispanic youth population tuning in on a weekly basis – Power 106 had to be certain that the “new solution” would not alienate current listeners.
Solution
Vibes provided Power 106 with the technology platform and personnel to help train station employees to more effectively interact and manage relationships with listeners. Using Vibes’ radio platform, program directors and on-air personalities were able to custom tailor promotions, contests and surveys which were activated via broadcast and carried out when listeners simply text messaged a key word or phrase to the radio station. This solution was well suited for Power 106 since just about every Hispanic listener had a mobile phone and was text messaging competent. Additionally, the radio platform is a cross carrier enabled platform so listeners never got a busy signal and, most importantly, the station saved hours of employee time since manning the phones was no longer necessary.
